Baldur's Gate 3 has issued Hotfix 9

 Baldur's Gate 3 Releases Hotfix 9

Larian Studios has released the ninth hotfix update for Baldur's Gate 3, introducing several new features and a multitude of technical improvements.

Highlights of this update include the ability for players to change their character's name and customize the appearances of hirelings using the Magic Mirror. Additionally, numerous bug fixes have been implemented, addressing issues such as crashes, GPU crashes on PS5 Vulkan, and black screen bugs in split-screen multiplayer.

It is expected that all previously released updates will be included in the Xbox Series X/S port of the game, which is anticipated to launch in 2023.

As of Friday, the ninth hotfix for Baldur's Gate 3 is available for download, a mere three days after the eighth minor patch was released.

Since its highly acclaimed release on August 3rd, the Belgian studio has diligently worked on polishing their latest RPG. In total, they have rolled out twelve patches, including three major updates that introduced balancing changes and additional content.

Despite being categorized as a hotfix, this latest patch introduces a few new features. Players can now change their main character's name through the Baldur's Gate 3 Magic Mirror, which was added to the game in late September. Moreover, the Magic Mirror now allows players to modify the appearances of hirelings - minions that can be recruited from Withers at the camp to replace any member of the main companion cast in combat.

The October 6th hotfix update for Baldur's Gate 3 also includes adjustments to the line-of-sight properties for entities with no sight range, such as traps and items. Additionally, the patch resolves fifteen issues, ranging from minor bugs to technical problems that could result in crashes. One particularly irritating problem, the occurrence of a black screen during split-screen multiplayer on the PS5 depending on certain dialogue triggers, has been eradicated.

This latest hotfix will update the game's version number to 4.1.1.3767641. Steam users should expect the update to download automatically, while the same should occur on the PS5 due to default behavior. In the event that the PlayStation version does not update automatically despite having internet connectivity, players are advised to ensure that the Automatic Updates option under the Saved Data and Game/App Settings menu is enabled.

All updates released by Larian for Baldur's Gate 3 thus far are anticipated to be included in the game's Xbox Series X/S port from its initial release. However, the RPG's Xbox version currently lacks a confirmed release date, as it initially encountered challenges in supporting split-screen multiplayer on the Series S.
